Jodeling!

I have a guilty obsession. Anytime I am bored on the computer, you can bet money on what I will be doing. YouTube-ing and more specifically listening to my favorite yodelers! Or more specifically "jodelers" in it's native tongue.

So I will take the liberty to enrich your lives with some classic tunes that I have discovered in my years of YouTube-ing. Once you watch these gems I am sure you will be trying to belt out some "Old Little Lady Who's" too!

Now before you go out and buy one of those ridiculous outfits and head to the Swiss Alps be sure you let Herr und Frau Neumayr (that's Mr. and Mrs Neumayr for your information) know of your plans so we can go too!

Also, from now on, please refer to me as Herr Neumayr. Make sure to us a German accent when you say it. You can also make your kids, family members, or talking parrot do the same.

bis morgen,
Herr Neumayr

From the road... Part Deux

So far our family vacation with Catherine's parents has been great. Just relaxed, simple fun! Yesterday we drove up to Estes Park and the temperature was a cool and comfortable 62 degrees. My oh my, how I have been waiting for temperatures like that. We are going to make the trek back up the mountain again today and visit all the shops and see what treasures we can find.

After sleeping until about 9 this morning, I got up and started to look at my pictures that I have taken so far. I picked the ones that I liked so far, and I have posted them below. I took these pictures while we were driving down the road, so some of them are a little blurry, but you can get the idea.

After I get done with this blog, we are going to get ready and head out for another day of being a complete tourist. Last night before dinner, we stopped at a Christmas shop and I found something that I am not sure I can live without. Well that is until I saw the price. At the Spruce House (Christmas 24-7-365) they had these amazing LED icicle lights that were 42 inches long and put on an amazing cascading light show. I had a total Griswold family Christmas in mind! I grabbed the price tag and turned it over. Then I feel out and had to be carried out on a stretcher and revived with smelling salts. Care to guess what the price on those stupid things were? $440.00!!!!!! What the! Scratch that idea, I will just stick to tinsel and spray snow.

Here are the pictures from the trip thus far. Be sure to check back for more later on. The scenery out here is amazing and I think that Our Little Ranch is going to pack up our headquarters and relocate up here.

Can you see why we had to leave? This was the temp when we left!

IMG_4493
Seeing this made me a little nervous.

IMG_4496
Gatorade Orange, our preferred drink of the trip. Catherine, Wilma and me all enjoyed an ice cold gatorade at each pit stop we made.

IMG_4511
You could see for miles. I wish that I had a house out in the middle of nowhere like this so I could just sit on the porch and not worry about anyone coming to bother me. I think I could turn into a hermit in the future.

IMG_4512
There's the beef! The whole trip I was waiting to see the first feed yard in west Texas. I think that it is something to do with all the trips that we made to feed yards on the judging team at A&M. Regardless, I really like feed yards and think that they are rather neat. I kind of wish I owned one. Kind of.

IMG_4517
Wilma dog, Dilmer dog, Wilma wog, was the best travelling partner you could ask for. She just slept the whole time. She would wake up when she needed a pit stop, but otherwise she would be sleeping or entertaining herself in the back gnawing on a huge bone that her Grandma Luann got her.

IMG_4530
Does this remind anyone else of the movie Tremors? You know the one with the giant man-eating worms. I envisioned myself running for my life and setting up camp on the top of a rock until Heather (Reba McEntire) and Burt (Michael Gross) could come rescue me.

IMG_4531
We're almost there!

IMG_4545
Whilst on this trip I have developed a fascination with wind farms. Just watching these huge yet majestic propellers mesmerized me.

IMG_4546
Ha! This was a sign at one the RV parks that Catherine's parents stopped at with their trailer. I thought it was kinda neat, so I took a picture.

IMG_4556
Finally some trifoam suds from the car wash. When we go to a car wash, we open up the vents and blow the fan as hard as we can to get the great bubblegum/fresh smell of this great colored foam.

Alright, off to scale the mountain side!

From the road...

We have so much to talk about, and so little time. I would like to say that we have had a good excuse for the lack of blog posting we have been doing. The heat? The phase of the moon perhaps? Actually the past few days we have been traveling with Catherine's family up to the cooler mountains of Colorado. We had to escape the broiling sun and the crazies (another blog). But the thing is, Catherine's parents drive slow, want to stop early and take advantage of every early bird special they can find. We have been on this trip now for three days and we just now made it into Colorado.

While on the trip we have been taking a lot of pictures from the road. Mainly of the neat landscape we see, a tumbleweed or two, a camel, and a cool RV Resort sign. Once we get settled in to our hotel tonight (we only have three more hours of driving + the speed of two slow drivers = we should get to our hotel some time mid-March.) I will try to let you in on the beautiful sights we have been seeing while on our trip.

Also, you may already know this but two nights ago Catherine started an Our Little Ranch Photography fan page on Facebook. We were a little hesitant to start this because we thought "What if we only get 25 friends?" We now have 452 people! Does that seem like insanity to anyone else. We are floored with the popularity of our work and all the kind words that people have been saying. So if you are not a fan of us on Facebook, please do so. You can just search for "Our Little Ranch Photography" and it will take you to our page.

I am about to get in the shower (TMI?) and then drag Catherine and Wilma to the car so we can go get with the slow drivers and try to spur them along. Until I can get the pictures from our trip up, I will leave you with my most recent favorite picture.

This is Ky Yackel from the Yackel family shoot that we did before we left. I will post the rest of the pictures later, but I cannot get over that I am the one that took this picture. I mean I feel like I really accomplished something when I look at this shot!

Ok got to go, Wilma is carrying my shoes down the hallway at the hotel.

Bradley's Photo Shoot

Bradley is the son of one of our good friends, Jodie Hutchinson. We had a great time playing with Bradley and taking some shots of our fun. I think my favorite part was when Jodie got the watermelon out of the ice chest and sliced it up for Bradley. He loved it! I loved it too, and while I was eating a piece, Catherine decided to take a quick shot of me. I will not show that here, but it is very similar to the ones of Bradley. I was face first in the slice of melon and had the red juice running down my face and arms.

So enjoy these picture of Bradley, and after looking at these, be sure to go and get a watermelon.

Ok, so things started off on a rather rocky start, but this picture makes us laugh each time we look at it.

This is the similiar picture to the one that Catherine took of me. It is very cute for a kid, but not so much for me.

IMG_4146

IMG_4063This picture was taken at Bradley's grandma's house. I will post some most pictures of this great place, but there were chickens (I want chickens so bad! I am going to get some now) a cool mosaic patio, a wall that was handmade with trinkets stuck in it, and did I mention there were chickens! Thousands of chickens! Okay, maybe only like 40, but 40 chickens is a lot! While you look through the rest of the photos, I am going to contemplate whice came first, the chicken or the egg.

A preview...

Its late, but we wanted to share a picture from a session today that we had with a really cute kid. Bradley's mom is one of my cousins and we were excited to photograph this little guy. If this photo doesn't scream summer, I don't know what does! More coming soon.

Crazy Laws

The other day I was piddling around on the internet and ran across a list of random state laws. As I reading though these, I was thinking "What is the reason these laws were made in the first place?"

So check these out and feel free to try and catch someone breaking the law and turn them in. I have no clue if these are actual laws, but considering it was on the internet and only facts are posted on the world wide web, I think we can all assume these are in fact actual laws.

California
You may not eat an orange in your bathtub.

Colorado
It’s unlawful to lend your vacuum cleaner to your next-door neighbor (Denver).

Connecticut
A pickle cannot actually be a pickle unless it bounces.

Delaware
It’s illegal to get married on a dare.

Washington, D.C.
It’s against the law to post a public notice calling someone a coward for refusing to accept a challenge to duel.

Florida
If you tie an elephant to a parking meter, you must pay the same parking fee as you would for a vehicle.

It’s illegal to change the clothes on a storefront mannequin unless you draw the shades first.

A man must not give his sweetheart a box of candy weighing fewer than fifty pounds.

Minnesota
It’s illegal to paint a sparrow with the intent of selling it as a parakeet (Harper Woods).

Mississippi
Walking a dog without dressing it in diapers is forbidden (Temperance).

Missouri
Children may buy shotguns in Kansas City, but not toy cap guns.

Montana
It’s a felony for a wife to open her husband’s mail.

Nebraska
Bar owners may not sell beer unless they brew a kettle of soup simultaneously.

Nevada
It’s illegal for men with mustaches to kiss women.

New Hampshire
It’s forbidden to sell the clothes you’re wearing to pay off a gambling debt.

New Jersey
It’s against the law for a man to knit during the fishing season.

New Mexico
Females may not appear unshaven in public.

New York
While riding in an elevator, you must talk to no one, fold your hands, and look toward the door.

North Carolina
It’s against the law to sing off-key.

South Carolina
If a man promises to marry an unmarried woman, he is required by law to keep his promise.

Wisconsin
Unless a customer specifically requests it, margarine may not be substituted for butter in a restaurant.

Wyoming
Unless you have an official permit, you may not take a picture of a rabbit from January to April.
This Court Is Adjourned
Whew! With all this legislation, it’s a wonder we’re not all sharing a prison cell right now. Granted, something tells me the Los Angeles Police Department has bigger fish to fry than popping people who dare to eat oranges while bathing, and that most people who saw me catching some shut-eye on top of a fridge in Pennsylvania wouldn’t call the cops on me, but you never know when you might come across that rare whistle-blower who wants you persecuted to the fullest extent of the law, so it’s probably better to be safe than sorry. The next time I tie up my elephant at a parking meter in Florida, I’ll be sure to bring a pocket full of quarters.

Payton's Photo Shoot

Last Thursday we took pictures of Catherine's cousin, Payton. What started with a trip to Bucee's for some Dippin'Dots ended with some great photos. I am not sure what Payton's future holds, but she could hold her own in a career in modeling.

While we were driving around with Paytie we were hasseling her about her boyfriend. Come to find out, we were a little outdated on our information as Payton has a new boyfriend that we did not know about. So Catherine, being her nosey self, asked how did Payton break up with him. Payton then told us that the three people she has rejected in her life, she has just told them "It's over." Upon hearing this, I about cried I was laughing so hard. Teenage relationships are a thing of comedy.

Payton then went on with more details. She said "I was going to call him because I don't like to break up with people over text message..." Again I found this hilarious. It must be something about wanting to be professional when breaking up with someone that got me.

Regardless of relationship status, we got some good pictures of Payton and I think that these pictures may bring around a couple new suiters.

Enjoy, ya hear!
